From Fear to Compassion: a 4-Part Virtual Meditation Circle

Join me to combat fear and isolation while growing compassion and connection

In this uncertain time, you may be feeling scared and isolated.

Here in Spain, My family and I are on lockdown. Even if your country hasn't taken these measures, you are likely going out less and less and moving into more isolating situations. This isolation can increase fear and anxiety, loneliness and depression. But it doesn't have to!

Join me to feel more calm, compassionate and connected.

The kind of isolation we are experiencing right now is steeped in a deep desire to keep ourselves and indeed the entire planet safer and healthier.

When we see our government or self-imposed quarantines as compassionate offerings, we can shift from fear to optimism and from isolation to connection.

What will we do?

  • Learn mindfulness practices to decrease fear anxiety and loneliness.
  • Learn mindfulness practices to increase peace, compassion and gratitude.
  • Connect with others in a live online community circle.
  • Have an opportunity to ask questions or share.

Why should you practice compassion meditations with me?

Practicing Compassion:

  1. Turns off your stress response leaving you less fearful and anxious and more relaxed.
  2. Helps you to feel strength, warmth and love in the face of suffering instead of overwhelm.
  3. Leads to pro-social, cooperative and altruistic behavior.
  4. Releases neurochemicals that leave you feeling more courageous, happy and connected.

This is really simple!

  • We'll meet 4 times for 45-60 minutes.
  • Each session will be live and recorded in the event that you want to watch again or can't make the class time.
  • I'll offer a guided meditation to help you feel more calm and connected while growing states of compassion and optimism.
  • I'll share a neuroscience-based perspective, in other words, the "why" of the meditation technique I'm offering for each class.
  • We'll have some time for optional sharing and questions.
  • Once you've registered, you'll get all of the instructions you need to meet me in the next class.

What if the sessions have already started?

No problem. Your course page will house all of the classes so you can watch them whenever it's convenient for you!

And finally, I leave you with a poem...

Pandemic

What if you thought of it
as the Jews consider the Sabbath—
   the most sacred of times?
   Cease from travel.
   Cease from buying and selling.
   Give up, just for now,
on trying to make the world
   different than it is.
   Sing. Pray. Touch only those
to whom you commit your life.
   Center down.

And when your body has become still,
   reach out with your heart.
   Know that we are connected
in ways that are terrifying and beautiful.
(You could hardly deny it now.)
   Know that our lives
   are in one another’s hands.
   (Surely, that has become clear.)
Do not reach out your hands.
   Reach out your heart.
   Reach out your words.
   Reach out all the tendrils
   of compassion that move, invisibly,
   where we cannot touch.

   Promise this world your love—
   for better or for worse,
   in sickness and in health,
so long as we all shall live.
